Screenshot copy flagged under Guideline 2.3.7

Guideline 2.3.7 says metadata such as screenshots and previews should not include prices, terms or descriptions that are not specific to that metadata type, so a screenshot that says “Only $0.99 today” can be flagged. Rewrite captions as benefits of the app.

“Metadata such as app names, subtitles, screenshots, and previews should not include prices, terms, or descriptions that are not specific to the metadata type.”

You’ll see this when…

  • A caption shows a price or discount.
  • Screenshots list keywords or competitor names.
  • Copy makes claims you can’t verify.

How to fix it

  1. Remove prices and sale terms from captions.
  2. Replace keyword lists with one benefit per screen.
  3. Drop other apps’ names and trademarks.
  4. Check counts and numbers match the app.

Frequently asked questions

Can screenshots show my app’s price?

Guideline 2.3.7 says screenshots shouldn’t include prices; the store already shows the price.

Can I put keywords in screenshot captions?

Keyword stuffing is what 2.3.7 targets. Write short benefits instead.

Does Google Play have a similar rule?

Yes: Google asks screenshots not to include price or promotional information, or words like “Best”, “#1” or “Sale”.
