Google Play Screenshot Sizes (2026)
Google Play phone screenshots can be any size from 320 to 3840 px per side, as long as the long side is at most twice the short side; use 1080 × 1920 (9:16) or larger to qualify for Play’s recommendation formats. The feature graphic is a fixed 1024 × 500 px, and every image must be JPEG or 24-bit PNG without transparency.

A 1080 × 1920 phone set
Made with our composer on a 9:16 canvas in the Pixel 9 Pro frame. Download each screen at 1080 × 1920 (no alpha) or open it in the editor.
The 2:1 rule
The long side can’t be more than twice the short side. Modern iPhone sizes break this rule (1320 × 2868 is 2.17:1), so a set made for the App Store can’t be uploaded to Google Play unchanged. Lay the Play set out at 9:16.
Text and content rules
- Taglines: no more than 20% of the image.
- No “Best”, “#1”, “Top”, “New”, “Discount”, “Sale”, “Million Downloads”.
- No calls to action like “Download now” or “Play now”.
- Clean status bar: full battery, Wi-Fi and signal, no carrier or notifications.
- Put real UI in the first three screenshots.
Making a Play set in AppShotEditor
- Open the example above in the editor, or start a project and choose Page Setup → Custom → 270 × 480 (9:16).
- Drop your screenshots into the Android frames and edit the headlines.
- Export with Custom Size 1080 × 1920 (or 1440 × 2560) as JPEG. Both keep the 9:16 ratio, and JPEG has no alpha channel (custom-size PNGs keep transparency).
Frequently asked questions
What is the best screenshot size for Google Play?
Use 1080 × 1920 px (9:16 portrait) or larger at the same ratio, such as 1440 × 2560. Google accepts 320–3840 px per side, but its recommendation formats need 9:16 or 16:9 at 1080 px or more.
Why does Google Play reject my 1290 × 2796 iPhone screenshot?
Its long side is 2.17 times the short side. Google Play allows at most 2:1, so tall iPhone sizes such as 1290 × 2796 and 1320 × 2868 fail. Re-export at 9:16 instead.
How many screenshots does a Google Play listing need?
At least 2 across device types to publish, up to 8 per device type. Apps need 4 or more (games 3) to be eligible for Play’s large recommendation formats.
Is the Google Play feature graphic required?
Yes. Every store listing needs a 1024 × 500 px feature graphic, as JPEG or 24-bit PNG without alpha.
Can I put text on Google Play screenshots?
Yes, but Google asks that taglines take up no more than 20% of the image, avoid words like “Best”, “#1” or “Free”, and avoid calls to action such as “Download now”.
