App Store Screenshot Sizes (2026)

For iPhone, design at 1320 × 2868 px (the 6.9-inch group, which also accepts 1290 × 2796 and 1260 × 2736); for iPad, Apple requires 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 px if your app runs on iPad. Every screenshot must match an accepted size exactly, be PNG or JPEG without transparency, and you can upload 1 to 10 per size.

What Apple lists as required

  • iPhone: at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display).
  • iPad (if your app supports iPadOS): at least one screenshot for the iPad 13-inch display.
  • Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Vision Pro apps: their own size is required.

Apple’s fallback notes say a missing 6.3-inch set uses scaled screenshots from the 6.5-inch group, which itself falls back to 6.9-inch. So one 1320 × 2868 design can cover every iPhone. If App Store Connect still flags the 6.3-inch slot for your app, export the same design at 1206 × 2622 and upload it there.

How App Store Connect scales screenshots

If your app’s UI is the same across device sizes and localizations, you only need screenshots for the highest required resolution; App Store Connect scales them down for smaller sizes.

Each optional group points to another group it borrows from. The iPhone chain runs from the smallest Home Button phones up to Face ID and Dynamic Island displays, and the iPad chain ends at the 13-inch display. The size pages above show the full chain for each group.

Mistakes that get screenshots rejected

  • Off by a pixel: 1320 × 2869 is not 1320 × 2868. Apple accepts exact sizes only.
  • An alpha channel. PNGs exported from design tools often keep one even when the image looks opaque.
  • The wrong orientation in a slot. Portrait and landscape are both fine, but each must be an accepted size.
  • Screenshots that don’t show the app in use, which App Review checks under Guideline 2.3.3.

Frequently asked questions

What is the App Store screenshot size for iPhone in 2026?

The largest iPhone size is 1320 × 2868 px (6.9-inch, iPhone with Dynamic Island, large display); Apple also accepts 1290 × 2796 and 1260 × 2736 in that group. Apple’s required list names the 6.3-inch group (1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556).

Do I need screenshots for every iPhone size?

No. If your UI looks the same on every size, upload the highest resolution and App Store Connect scales it down. Each smaller group names the group it falls back to when you leave it empty.

Which iPad screenshot size is required?

If your app runs on iPad, Apple requires the 13-inch display size: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 px (or the same in landscape).

Can App Store screenshots be PNG with transparency?

No. Apple accepts .jpeg, .jpg and .png, but images can’t include alpha channels or transparency. Flatten the image onto a solid background before you upload.

How many screenshots can I upload to the App Store?

At least 1 and up to 10 screenshots per display size, for each localization.

What changed in 2026?

Apple added 1260 × 2736 (iPhone 18 Pro Max) to the 6.9-inch group and added two iPhone Duo sizes: 1398 × 2034 (outer display) and 2007 × 2853 (inner display). Apple notes that from April 2027 screenshots will be required for any app built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later.
