Screenshot caption
A screenshot caption is the short headline placed on an App Store or Google Play screenshot to say what the screen shows or why it matters. Keep it to a few words: our composer flags captions over five words or two lines.
Apple allows text overlays (Guideline 2.3.3) but not prices in screenshots (2.3.7). Google asks for taglines under 20% of the image and no ranking or price words.
Short benefit captions, sized by the composer so every screen uses the same type size.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a screenshot caption be?
About five words and at most two lines at the size shown in search results.
Should captions describe features or benefits?
Benefits: what the user gets (“Bills, never missed”), not the feature name.
Can captions include prices?
No: Apple’s 2.3.7 and Google’s guidelines both say to leave price information out of screenshots.
