Keywords field
The keywords field holds up to 100 bytes of keywords that help people find your app in App Store search. Apple says not to repeat your app or company name there, and not to use other apps’ or companies’ names.
Because the limit is in bytes, languages with accented or non-Latin characters fit fewer characters: many such characters take two or three bytes in UTF-8.
- Latin (abcdefghij)10 bytes
- Accented Latin (éèêëàâîïôû)20 bytes
- Cyrillic (абвгдежзий)20 bytes
- Japanese (あいうえおかきくけこ)30 bytes
Frequently asked questions
Is the App Store keyword limit 100 characters?
It is 100 bytes. Non-Latin and accented characters use more than one byte each.
Should I repeat my app name in keywords?
No. Apple says your app is already searchable by app name and company name.
Does Google Play have a keywords field?
No. Google Play has no separate keywords field; text in your listing is used instead.
