Localized App Store Screenshots

To localize App Store screenshots, add each language as a localization in App Store Connect (Apple offers 50) and upload screenshots with translated headlines and UI there; Google Play works the same way with its own language codes. Each guide below gives the exact codes, the script’s line-breaking and font rules, and a rendered example.

A localization workflow that scales

  1. Write source headlines short (five words or fewer); they translate with less overflow.
  2. Translate with a native speaker, not just machine translation, especially for slogans.
  3. Capture localized UI screenshots; captions in one language over UI in another look unfinished.
  4. Duplicate the editor project per language and swap text and screenshots.
  5. Prioritize the markets that matter for your app first, then expand.

Frequently asked questions

How many languages does the App Store support?

Apple lists 50 App Store localizations, from Arabic to Vietnamese, including four English and two each of French, Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese.

Do localized screenshots improve downloads?

Localized headlines match what people read and search in their language. Test it on your app: Apple’s Product Page Optimization and Google Play’s store listing experiments can compare versions.

Does AppShotEditor translate screenshots?

No. It has no built-in translation. Duplicate your project per language and paste in reviewed translations; the layout and frames carry over.

Which languages need special layout care?

Right-to-left scripts (Arabic, Hebrew, Urdu), scripts without spaces (Thai, Chinese, Japanese) and scripts with tall marks (Devanagari, Bengali, Thai, Vietnamese).
