Google Play rejects the aspect ratio

Google Play rejects any screenshot whose long side is more than twice its short side, so tall captures such as 1320 × 2868 (2.17:1) or 1080 × 2400 (2.22:1) fail. Re-lay them out at 9:16, for example 1080 × 1920.

“The maximum dimension of your screenshot can’t be more than twice as long as the minimum dimension.”

You’ll see this when…

  • Uploads of iPhone App Store screenshots fail on Play.
  • Raw captures from modern Android phones fail.

How to fix it

  1. Check the ratio with the size checker.
  2. Put the capture in a 9:16 layout (frame + caption) instead of uploading it raw.
  3. Export at 1080 × 1920 or 1440 × 2560.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum aspect ratio on Google Play?

2:1. The long side can be at most twice the short side.

Why does my Pixel screenshot fail?

Modern phones have tall screens (about 20:9), which exceeds 2:1. Frame the capture on a 9:16 canvas.

Which size should I use instead?

1080 × 1920 or 1440 × 2560 (9:16).
