Screenshot Size Checker

Drop one or more screenshots to see which App Store display class each one matches and whether Google Play will accept it. The check also flags alpha channels and file types that the stores reject, and it all runs in your browser.

Or type a size

  • ✓ App Store: iPhone 6.9-inch (iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display)), portrait
  • ✗ Google Play: The long side is more than twice the short side (2.17:1).

What the checker tests

  • App Store: an exact match against every size on Apple’s screenshot specification page, portrait and landscape.
  • Google Play: 320–3840 px per side, a long side no more than twice the short side, and 9:16 / 16:9 at 1080 px for recommendation formats.
  • Transparency: the PNG colour type and tRNS chunk, plus a scan of every pixel.
  • File type from the file’s first bytes (not its extension), so a renamed HEIC or WebP is caught.

The size lists come from the same data as our App Store and Google Play size guides.

Frequently asked questions

Why does App Store Connect say my screenshot has the wrong dimensions?

Apple only accepts exact sizes, such as 1320 × 2868 for the 6.9-inch iPhone group. A screenshot that is one pixel off, or a size from another device, fails. The checker shows the nearest accepted size.

Does this tool upload my screenshots?

No. The image is decoded by your browser with the File API and a canvas. Nothing leaves your device.

How does the checker detect an alpha channel?

It draws the image on a canvas and looks for any pixel that is not fully opaque. It also reads the PNG header: a PNG saved with an alpha channel fails App Store Connect even when every pixel is opaque, so the tool reports the header too.
