Remove the Alpha Channel from Screenshots

Drop PNGs here to flatten any transparency onto a background colour and save them as RGB PNGs with no alpha channel, the format App Store Connect and Google Play accept. The pixel size stays exactly the same.

How it works

  • Each image is drawn onto a canvas filled with your background colour, which flattens any transparency.
  • The result is encoded as an 8-bit RGB PNG (colour type 2) with no alpha channel and no transparency chunk.
  • Width and height are unchanged, so the file still matches the store size it was made for.
  • The tool reports whether the original PNG declared an alpha channel.

Frequently asked questions

Why does App Store Connect reject my PNG?

Apple’s specification says images can’t include alpha channels or transparencies, and the check looks at the file format as well as the pixels.

Does removing alpha change how the screenshot looks?

Only where pixels were transparent: those become the background colour you pick. Fully opaque screenshots look identical.

Is the output a real RGB PNG?

Yes. It is encoded as PNG colour type 2 (truecolour, 8-bit), with no alpha channel and no tRNS chunk.
