How to Make iPhone Duo App Store Screenshots
Make one screenshot set per iPhone Duo display: 2007 × 2853 px for the inner display and 1398 × 2034 px for the outer one. In AppShotEditor you design the inner set, click “Create outer from inner” to copy it into the outer size and frame, adjust what needs it, and export both at Apple’s exact sizes.
- Inner display
- 2007 × 2853 px · aspect 0.7035
- Outer display
- 1398 × 2034 px · aspect 0.6873
- Per size
- 1 to 10 screenshots, PNG or JPEG, no alpha
- Required?
- Not today; Apple’s note: from April 2027 for apps on the iOS 27.1 SDK or later
Step by step
- 1
Check what you need
Apple lists two iPhone Duo sizes, one per display: 2007 × 2853 (inner) and 1398 × 2034 (outer), each also in landscape. They are optional today; Apple’s note says they will be required from April 2027 for apps using the iOS 27.1 SDK or later.
- 2
Capture both displays
Run your app on iPhone Duo, in the simulator or on a device, and take screenshots with the phone open (inner display) and closed (outer display). Set a clean status bar first, for example with `xcrun simctl status_bar` in the simulator.
- 3
Add the inner group
Open the editor and choose Add device → “iPhone Duo — inner 7.6"”. The group gets its own canvas in the inner display’s shape, the free inner-display frame and a 2007 × 2853 export size.
- 4
Design the inner set
Drop one inner capture onto each frame and write one short benefit headline per screen. Keep text above or below the device, away from the vertical centre where the display folds.
- 5
Create the outer set
Click “Create outer from inner”. Each inner screen is copied into the outer size and frame. If an outer group already exists, the editor asks before it replaces those screens, and you can undo right after.
- 6
Adjust the outer set
Swap in your outer captures and check every headline: the outer canvas is narrower (aspect 0.687 against 0.703), so long lines can wrap differently.
- 7
Export and upload
Export. Screens in an iPhone Duo group always come out at their own exact size (2007 × 2853 or 1398 × 2034), whatever preset is selected. Single screens export free; a ZIP of the whole project puts the sets in iPhone-Duo-inner and iPhone-Duo-outer folders. Upload each set to its size in App Store Connect.
One design, both displays
The same three screens, composed for each display. The inner set is the design; the outer set is what “Create outer from inner” starts you with.

Fold-safe layouts for the inner display
- Put headlines above or below the device, never across the middle of the canvas.
- Choose captures where the key content (a chart, a photo, a button) is not split down the centre of the open display.
- Do not add a crease line to your mockups. Real screenshots have none, and Apple says the display’s nano-texture finish minimizes crease visibility on the device itself.
- Check the inner screens at the small size people see in search results: the wide 0.70 shape makes the device look smaller than on other iPhones, so the headline carries more of the message.
Mistakes to avoid
- Stretching or padding a 6.9-inch iPhone screenshot (aspect 0.460) to a Duo size. The UI distorts or gets bars; capture on iPhone Duo instead.
- Using one set for both displays. The sizes are different, and App Store Connect only accepts exact pixel sizes.
- Uploading PNGs with an alpha channel. Apple rejects them; export from the editor, which writes opaque files.
Check finished files with the free screenshot size checker; it knows both iPhone Duo sizes.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to make iPhone Duo screenshots?
Most of the work is the inner set. Once it is done, “Create outer from inner” builds the outer set in one click, and you only fix captures and line breaks.
Do I need a separate project for iPhone Duo?
No. Add the iPhone Duo groups to your existing project next to your iPhone, iPad and Android groups; each group keeps its own size and frame.
Can I make iPhone Duo screenshots without the device?
Yes, if you capture in the simulator. The editor itself runs in any modern browser.
Which display should I design first?
The inner display. It is the larger size, and the copy from inner to outer only goes in that direction.
