Display crease (fold line)

A display crease is the faint line where a foldable screen bends, down the middle of the open display. For iPhone Duo App Store screenshots it means one thing: keep headlines and the key part of the UI away from the vertical centre of the 2007 × 2853 inner-display screenshots.

Apple says iPhone Duo’s matte nano-texture finish minimizes crease visibility, and a screenshot captured from the device or the simulator shows no crease at all. A mockup frame should not draw one either; ours does not.

The outer display does not fold, so the crease only matters for the inner set.

Headlines sit above or below the device, never across the vertical centre where the inner display folds.

Frequently asked questions

Do iPhone Duo screenshots show the crease?

No. A screenshot is the rendered image of the screen, so the physical fold is not in it.

Should my mockup draw a crease?

No. It would put a line over your UI that real screenshots do not have.

Does the crease affect the outer display?

No. The 5.4-inch outer display does not fold.
