Locale code

A locale code identifies the language, and sometimes the region or script, that a set of store metadata is for, such as de-DE (German, Germany) or zh-Hans (Chinese, Simplified script). Apple and Google sometimes use different codes for the same language.

Examples from the two stores’ own lists: Hebrew is “he” on the App Store and “iw-IL” on Google Play; Simplified Chinese is “zh-Hans” on Apple and “zh-CN” on Google.
