App Store Screenshots with opencode

To make App Store screenshots with opencode, clone the appshot-screenshots skill into ~/.config/opencode/skills, export your AppShotEditor token, and ask opencode for App Store screenshots of your app. The skill returns an editable, device-framed set you can finish in the browser.

Setup in 6 steps

  1. 1 Install Node 22+ and clone the skill into ~/.config/opencode/skills/appshot-screenshots.
  2. 2 Sign in at appshoteditor.com/account and create an API token (a free account is enough).
  3. 3 Export it in the shell you start opencode from: export APPSHOTEDITOR_TOKEN=ase_…
  4. 4 Open your app’s repository in opencode and ask for App Store screenshots.
  5. 5 Point the skill at a folder of simulator or device screenshots (PNG, JPEG or WebP).
  6. 6 Open the appshoteditor.com/app?import=… link it returns within 24 hours, signed in, and fine-tune the set.
git clone https://github.com/AppShotEditor/app-store-screenshots-skill.git \
  ~/.config/opencode/skills/appshot-screenshots

Then ask:

> Make App Store screenshots for this app from the images in ./screenshots and use our brand colour #0f766e.

Set up opencode

Clone the skill into ~/.config/opencode/skills/appshot-screenshots, keeping the folder name. opencode works with whichever model you configure; the skill’s CLI does the layout work the same way regardless.

Export APPSHOTEDITOR_TOKEN in the terminal where you run opencode.

Tips

  • Give a brand colour; the composer builds a matching palette with readable text.
  • Ask for fewer screens (3–5) for a first pass; add more in the editor.
  • If the model is small, name the benefits yourself and let the skill only compose.

The kind of set you get back

The skill composes with the same shot-dsl engine that drew this example. Open it in the editor to see the layers, or download the PNGs.

Frequently asked questions

Does the skill depend on a particular model in opencode?

No. The model writes the headlines; the bundled CLI composes and validates the layout, so the output format is the same with any model.

Can I use a local model?

Yes, if opencode can run shell commands with it. Smaller models may write weaker headlines; you can edit them in the editor afterwards.

Where is my data stored?

Uploaded screenshots go to your AppShotEditor account storage (25 MB on the free plan). Handoff links expire after 24 hours.
