App Store Screenshots with Claude Code
To make App Store screenshots with Claude Code, clone the open appshot-screenshots skill into ~/.claude/skills, export your AppShotEditor token, and ask “make App Store screenshots for this app”. Claude reads your code for real benefits, uploads the screenshots you point it at, and returns a link to an editable set.
Setup in 6 steps
- 1 Install Node 22+ and clone the skill into ~/.claude/skills/appshot-screenshots.
- 2 Sign in at appshoteditor.com/account and create an API token (a free account is enough).
- 3 Export it in the shell you start Claude Code from: export APPSHOTEDITOR_TOKEN=ase_…
- 4 Open your app’s repository in Claude Code and ask for App Store screenshots.
- 5 Point the skill at a folder of simulator or device screenshots (PNG, JPEG or WebP).
- 6 Open the appshoteditor.com/app?import=… link it returns within 24 hours, signed in, and fine-tune the set.
git clone https://github.com/AppShotEditor/app-store-screenshots-skill.git \ ~/.claude/skills/appshot-screenshots
Then ask:
> Make App Store screenshots for this app. Use the screenshots in ./fastlane/screenshots/en-US.
Why Claude Code is a good fit
Claude Code works inside your repository, so the skill can read the README, store copy and source to find benefits a user would care about, and write each one as a short headline.
Claude Code loads skills from ~/.claude/skills (or a project’s .claude/skills folder) and can also run one by name as a slash command: /appshot-screenshots.
What happens when you ask
The skill’s instructions load, then a bundled Node CLI does the deterministic work:
- A whoami check confirms your token before anything is uploaded.
- 5–10 user-facing benefits are written as headlines.
- Your screenshots are uploaded to your account storage and paired with benefits.
- Layouts are composed with device frames and one palette, then published as a handoff link.
The kind of set you get back
The skill composes with the same shot-dsl engine that drew this example. Open it in the editor to see the layers, or download the PNGs.
Frequently asked questions
Does Claude Code send my source code to AppShotEditor?
No. Claude reads your code to write headlines; only the screenshot images you point the skill at are uploaded, to your own account storage.
Can I run the skill as a slash command in Claude Code?
Yes. Claude Code exposes installed skills as slash commands, so /appshot-screenshots works once the folder is in ~/.claude/skills.
Where do I put the skill for one project only?
Clone it into that repository’s .claude/skills/appshot-screenshots folder instead of your home folder.
