Mac App Store Screenshot Generator
Mac App Store screenshots must be 16:10, at 1280 × 800, 1440 × 900, 2560 × 1600 and 2880 × 1800 px, and AppShotEditor lays them out on a 16:10 canvas with MacBook and display frames. Export at 2880 × 1800 for the sharpest result, and keep the layers editable.

How to do it
- 1
Capture
Take a window or full-screen capture of your Mac app (⇧⌘5). Retina captures of a 1440 × 900 point area are 2880 × 1800.
- 2
Set up
Choose Page Setup → MacBook for a 16:10 canvas with a MacBook frame.
- 3
Design
Keep the headline short and to one side or above the device; the width is generous but the height is not.
- 4
Export
Use Custom Size 2880 × 1800 (or another accepted 16:10 size) and choose JPEG: custom-size PNGs keep transparency, which Apple rejects.
Mac screenshot sizes
Apple accepts exactly four sizes for Mac: 1280 × 800, 1440 × 900, 2560 × 1600 and 2880 × 1800. All are 16:10. Pick one and use it for the whole set; the bigger sizes stay crisp on Retina displays.
There is no portrait option and no fallback group: Mac screenshots are required for Mac apps, and the size must match exactly.
Frames: laptop or display?
The editor has MacBook Air 13", MacBook Air 15", MacBook Pro 14", MacBook Pro 16", iMac 24", Studio Display and Pro Display XDR, plus menu-bar variants of the MacBooks that show a macOS menu bar above your capture.
A laptop frame reads as “this is a Mac app” at a glance. A display frame, or no frame at all, leaves more room for a dense UI such as a code editor or a spreadsheet.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Mac App Store screenshot size?
One of 1280 × 800, 1440 × 900, 2560 × 1600 and 2880 × 1800 px, all 16:10. Apple requires them for Mac apps.
Can I use iPad screenshots for my Mac Catalyst app?
No. The Mac listing needs its own 16:10 screenshots of the Mac version, even when the app is built with Mac Catalyst.
Are Mac frames free?
No. Mac frames (laptops and displays) are part of the Pro plan ($59/year). You can still make a frameless Mac set on the free plan.
Should the Mac screenshot show the whole desktop?
Usually not. A clean window capture on a simple background reads better than a busy desktop with other apps and icons.
