Google Play Feature Graphic Generator

A Google Play feature graphic must be exactly 1024 × 500 px, JPEG or 24-bit PNG without alpha, and every store listing needs one. AppShotEditor lays it out in your browser with your colours, icon and tagline kept away from the cropped edges, and exports it at the exact size.

Habits that stickSmall steps, every day

How to do it

  1. 1

    Canvas

Open the example, or choose Page Setup → Custom → 512 × 250 (the same 2.048:1 ratio).

  2. 2

    Brand

Use your app’s colours and icon. Avoid pure white, black or dark grey backgrounds; they blend into Google Play.

  3. 3

    Message

One short tagline. Keep it, the logo and the app name inside the centre area so formats that crop the edges keep them.

  4. 4

    Export

Export with Custom Size 1024 × 500 as JPEG. (Custom-size PNGs keep transparency, and Google wants no alpha.)

Where the feature graphic appears

Google uses it as the cover of your preview video, and in large-format collections of apps (including ads). Because some formats crop it, Google marks cut-off zones near the edges and asks you to keep the focal point centred.

What Google asks you not to do

  • No device imagery: phones in the graphic date quickly and can exclude users.
  • No store badges and no performance or price claims (“Best”, “#1”, “Top”, “New”, “Free”, “Sale”).
  • No prominent branding that simply repeats your icon; extend the brand instead.
  • No time-bound content you will forget to swap out after a holiday.

Frequently asked questions

What size is the Google Play feature graphic?

Exactly 1024 × 500 px, as JPEG or a 24-bit PNG without an alpha channel.

Is the feature graphic required?

Yes. Google requires a feature graphic to publish a store listing.

Can I put a phone mockup in the feature graphic?

Google’s guidelines say to avoid device imagery in the feature graphic, because devices date quickly and can alienate users. Use colour, your icon and a tagline instead.

Why does my feature graphic look cropped on Play?

Some Play formats crop the edges. Keep the logo, app name and tagline inside the centre, away from the left and right edges.
