Android Screenshot Generator

AppShotEditor frames your Android screenshots in Pixel 9 Pro or Pixel 9 Pro XL mockups, adds a caption and exports a PNG that Google Play accepts. The work happens in your browser, it is free, and every screen stays editable.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Capture

    Use the emulator’s camera button or `adb exec-out screencap -p > screen.png` on a device.

  2. 2

    Frame

Drop each capture onto a Pixel frame. Captures from any phone are fitted to the frame’s screen.

  3. 3

    Caption

Write one benefit per screen and keep the device large; Play shows screenshots small in search.

  4. 4

    Export

Export with Custom Size 1080 × 1920 as JPEG, so the file passes Google’s 2:1 rule and has no alpha channel.

Device resolution vs. store size

Android phones have many resolutions, such as 1080 × 2424 on a Pixel 9 or 1440 × 3120 on a Galaxy S25 Ultra. Those are capture sizes, not store sizes. Google Play does not ask for a specific device size; it asks for 320–3840 px per side with a ratio no taller than 2:1.

So capture on whatever phone you have, then frame and export at 9:16. A raw 1080 × 2424 capture is 2.24:1 and would fail if you uploaded it unframed.

Android-specific polish

  • Show Material You colours if your app supports dynamic colour; it signals a native Android app.
  • Use gesture navigation in captures instead of the old three-button bar.
  • If you support tablets or Chromebooks, upload large-screen screenshots too; Google asks for at least four there.

Frequently asked questions

Which Android phones can I frame?

Google Pixel 9 Pro and Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. Screenshots from any Android phone fit these frames.

Do I need Samsung frames for Galaxy users?

No. Google Play shows the same screenshots to every device, and Google’s guidelines warn that device imagery can look dated or exclude users. A Pixel frame, or no frame, works for all Android users.

What size should I export Android screenshots at?

1080 × 1920 or 1440 × 2560 (9:16). Both pass the 2:1 rule and the 1080 px minimum for Play’s recommendation formats.
