Frequently asked questions

Do game screenshots have to show gameplay?

Yes. Apple’s guideline 2.3.3 asks that screenshots show the app in use, and Google asks game screenshots to depict the in-game experience.

Portrait or landscape for game screenshots?

Match how the game is played. For Google Play’s recommendation formats, games need at least three screenshots at 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait, 1080 px or more.

Can I add text to game screenshots?

Short captions are fine, but keep the gameplay visible; Google asks taglines to stay under 20% of the image.
