Troubleshooting
App Store Screenshot Rejected?
Don't panic. Screenshot rejections are common and usually easy to fix. Here are the most common reasons and solutions.
Apple App Store Rejections
Wrong Dimensions
"Screenshots must be the correct size for the device."
Solution:
- • iPhone: Use 1320 x 2868 px (6.9" required)
- • iPad: Use 2064 x 2752 px (13" required)
- • Use AppShotEditor for auto-correct dimensions
Android UI Elements Visible
"Screenshots contain elements from a different platform."
Solution:
- • Remove Android navigation bars (back, home, recent)
- • Hide Android status bar icons
- • Capture screenshots on iOS device or simulator
Promotional or Misleading Content
"Screenshots contain promotional content or misleading claims."
Solution - Remove these:
- • Price mentions ("$0.99", "Free", "50% off")
- • Ranking claims ("#1 App", "Top Rated")
- • Time-sensitive text ("Limited time", "Download now")
- • URLs, email addresses, phone numbers
App UI Not Clearly Visible
"Screenshots do not sufficiently display the app's user interface."
Solution:
- • Show actual app screens, not concept art
- • Don't obscure UI with too much marketing text
- • Text overlays should highlight, not hide
- • At least 50% of screenshot should show real UI
TestFlight Elements Visible
"Screenshots contain TestFlight-specific UI elements."
Solution:
- • Remove TestFlight back button from screenshots
- • Take screenshots from a production build
- • Use Xcode Simulator for clean captures
Google Play Store Rejections
Not Enough Screenshots
"Your app listing doesn't meet minimum asset requirements."
Solution:
- • Phone: Minimum 2 screenshots (recommend 4-8)
- • Tablet: Minimum 4 screenshots if targeting tablets
- • Feature graphic: 1024x500 (required for all apps)
Wrong Aspect Ratio
"Screenshot dimensions don't meet requirements."
Solution:
- • Use 16:9 (landscape) or 9:16 (portrait)
- • Phone: 1080x1920 recommended
- • Max dimension: 3840px on any edge
- • Long edge can't be more than 2x short edge
Misleading or Promotional Content
"Screenshots contain misleading visuals or promotional language."
Solution:
- • Taglines should be max 20% of screenshot area
- • No "download now", "free", "best" claims
- • No ranking or award mentions
- • 80%+ should show authentic app UI
